BCCI released a medical update
BCCI has given a medical update regarding Shubman. The board wrote- Team India's batsman Shubhman Gill will not travel with the team to Delhi on October 9. This opening batsman could not play in the Indian team's first match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup against Australia in Chennai. He will also not be able to play in Team India's next match against Afghanistan on October 11 in Delhi. Shubhman will stay in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team.
In recent times, India's most brilliant batsman in ODIs, Shubman, is reportedly suffering from high fever. I believe testing was to be done for dengue, but BCCI has given no official information about this. BCCI has said that Shubman has a high fever. At the same time, BCCI sources had told that Shubman is suffering from dengue. It usually takes 7-10 days for a player to recover from dengue and become match-fit again. However, if there is a significant drop in platelet count, the patient may take longer to recover.
After Afghanistan, India has to play a match against Pakistan.
Some media reports have even said that apart from the match against Afghanistan, Shubman may also remain out of India's third match against Pakistan, to be held in Ahmedabad on October 14. Shubman has scored 1,200 runs this year and has recently formed a successful opening pair with captain Rohit Sharma. If he remains absent for a long time, then it can be a big blow for the Indian team.
The team management would want to avoid taking any risk regarding Shubman Gill. In the next match against Afghanistan, left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan can once again be seen opening with Rohit Sharma in his place. Ishan Kishan had also opened in the game against Australia but could not open the account. He has played 26 games so far. During this period, his average has been around 44. Ishaan has 886 runs in his name. He has scored one century and seven half-centuries. Kishan has scored three half-centuries this year.
